BACKGROUND/HISTORY
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that students, faculty and staff experience a healthy, comfortable and productive environment and that NPC is in compliance with the Arkansas Clean Indoor Air Act of 2006 as well as the Clean Air on Campus Act of 2009.
SCOPE
This policy applies to all faculty, staff, students and campus visitors.
AUTHORITY
The Arkansas Clean Indoor Air Act of 2006, Promulgated Under the Authority of Act 96 of 1913, As Amended by Act 990 of 1991 (Ark. Code Ann. § 20-7-109(a)(1)) and Act 8 of the First Extraordinary Session of 2006 (Ark. Code Ann. § 20-27-1801-1809). The Clean Air on Campus Act of 2009 (Ark. Code Ann. §6-60-801-807)
DEFINITIONS
Banned smoking or tobacco products include cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco, smokeless tobacco products, electronic cigarettes and electronic vaping devices.
POLICY STATEMENT
This policy applies to all NPC facilities and vehicles, owned or leased, regardless of location. Use of banned products is not permitted on the NPC campus or NPC off-campus sites. ACA §6-60-807 (2015) states that violators may be subject to a fine of not less than $100 and no more than $500. Violators of NPC policy may also face dismissal.
RESPONSIBILITIES
All college employees and students are responsible to know and abide by college policies. College policies applicable to students will be communicated through the student handbook.
