BACKGROUND/HISTORY

The purpose of this policy is to provide guidelines to govern operations during inclement weather and to ensure compliance with OPM Policy 50.09 while balancing the needs and safety of the students and employees.

SCOPE

This policy applies to all faculty, staff, students and campus visitors.

AUTHORITY

The OPM Policy 50.09 and NPC Board.

DEFINITIONS

Inclement Weather: Refers to any weather situation/event that might hinder the normal operations of NPC or that might create hazardous travel conditions.

POLICY STATEMENT

The President and members of his Cabinet will determine when the inclement weather policy is implemented based on area weather conditions. The College will utilize the NPC Emergency Notification System (ENS), as well as local and social media outlets, to notify staff and students as soon as practical that the inclement weather policy has been implemented. The state policy provisions regarding late arrival and leave time will apply to NPC employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES

All college employees and students are responsible for monitoring local and social media or NPC ENS for implementation announcements.
