Program Overview
The Business Management/Accounting program prepares is designed to help prepare you for work in entry level accounting positions in a number of different industries and organizations and apply generally acceptable accounting principles to real-world accounting situations.
Program Structure
Courses are offered in a variety of formats including traditional face-to-face, blended and online coursework.
You will learn to:
- Prepare, organize and analyze financial statements
- Use accounting software to carry out job functions
- Effectively communicate financial information in both oral and written formats
- Develop mathematical and critical thinking skills which will help you solve complex accounting problems
- Identify and apply individual, payroll, and business tax laws

Degrees and Certificates
Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business Management/Accounting
The A.A.S. Business Management/Accounting degree is a 60 credit hour program of study. It is primarily intended for those interested in an accounting career. Consequently, some courses in this program may not transfer to all senior institutions. Students who plan to transfer to a senior institution are strongly advised to correspond with the institution to which they plan to transfer.
All courses listed in the catalog are required, but the sequence of courses taken is based on availability and the necessity for prerequisites.
In the Business Division curricula, courses prerequisite to another class require a minimum grade of C in order to advance to the next course.

Accounting Technician (Technical Certificate)
Graduates who complete this 36-credit hour certificate will possess the basic knowledge of accounting and computer technology to be employed as accounting technicians, accounting assistants, or accounting clerks (payroll, receivables, payables). Courses include both accounting theory and computerized accounting systems as well as an income tax course.
